Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my VX or Sahara?

Yes.

All VX, Sahara and Altitude models listed in the compatibility section are compatible with our relocation kit.

The only limitation is that VX/Sahara factory camera systems cannot be upgraded to our optional SD or HD camera upgrades. These models continue to use the factory camera.

 

Why can’t I just swap the factory camera and switch myself?

Unfortunately it’s not that simple.

The factory camera and tailgate switch use different mounting systems, different connector locations and different wiring lengths.

Our kit includes the custom mounting plates, modified tailgate switch assembly and plug & play wiring required to relocate both components while maintaining a factory-style appearance.

No cutting, drilling or soldering required.

 

Do I need to upgrade my camera?

No.

For most customers the factory camera works perfectly once relocated to the centre position.

Camera upgrades are completely optional and are mainly suited to customers wanting improved image quality.

 

I have the factory Toyota head unit. Can I use the upgraded camera?

If your vehicle has a factory Toyota head unit, select the Standard Definition (SD) camera option only.

The HD camera option requires a compatible aftermarket head unit capable of displaying AHD 1080p video.

 

I have a Pioneer / Sony / Kenwood / Alpine head unit. Can I use the HD camera?

No.

The HD camera option is only compatible with certain Android-based 9” and 10.1” head units that can support a AHD 1080p 30fps / 30hz reversing camera format.

For all branded head units, select the factory camera or Standard Definition (SD) camera option.

 

How long does installation take?

Approximately 45 minutes using basic hand tools.

No permanent modifications are required.

 

Can I return the vehicle back to standard later?

Yes.

The kit is completely reversible and can be removed at any time if required.

Our replacement units are compatible.

If using another brand, please confirm with that company before ordering.

 

➡️ Incorrect HD selection may incur a $50 changeover fee and the HD camera will need to be sent back to us before we send the standard definition camera.

VX + SAHARA PARKING GUIDELINES:

After the camera has been relocated, you may notice the parking grid lines are no longer accurate. Please follow the steps in guide below to make the adjustments to suit. Please note that it may take a few adjustment cycles to get the lines where you want them. Follow the steps from start to finish each time otherwise the changes may not be applied.
