What factory functions do I lose with the G3V4 interface kit?

The G3V4 interface kit is designed to retain your existing factory features and OEM integration. Your factory system will continue to operate exactly as it does now, including features such as steering wheel controls, factory reverse camera, Bluetooth microphone, climate control integration, rear screens (where applicable) and more.

Can I install the kit myself?

Yes — the kit can absolutely be installed DIY provided you are comfortable removing the factory system and following our instructions.

DIY installation does not affect warranty coverage. If you happen to run into any issues during installation, we are always happy to assist via phone or email.

Is any setup required after installation?

No setup is required on your end other than connecting your phone.

Before dispatch, every kit is fully prepared and configured, including:

Installing commonly used apps
Updating GPS mapping to the latest available version
Configuring wireless phone connectivity
Setting up auto-connect and auto-resume functions
Pre-configuring the Torque app and Bluetooth OBDII adapter (if purchased)
Loading transmission temperature monitoring and custom gauge layouts
Activating and loading OziExplorer Australia-wide mapping (if purchased)

The goal is to make the system as close to “plug in and use” as possible.

Do I need to install an external microphone?

No — the G3V4 system uses your existing factory microphone, so there is no need to install an additional aftermarket microphone.

What optional extras are available?

The kit includes everything required for installation and operation. However, we do offer several optional extras for customers wanting additional functionality.

These include:

Bluetooth OBDII adapter for use with the pre-installed Torque app
OziExplorer 4WD mapping software for off-road navigation
HDMI output cable for Sahara rear screen integration

Please note: rear screens will still operate normally even without the optional HDMI cable installed.

What are the USB and SIM card connections used for?

The USB and SIM connections are normally routed into the glovebox for easy access while keeping the dash area neat and uncluttered. However, they can be routed elsewhere if preferred.

The USB connection is commonly used for:

Wired Apple CarPlay / Android Auto
USB media playback
Charging devices

The SIM card slot allows the system to access mobile data directly without relying on your phone hotspot.

Do I need a SIM card?

No — a SIM card is completely optional.

The system will still operate normally without one, especially if you primarily use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

A SIM card is mainly useful for customers who wish to run Android apps directly on the system itself, such as:

App downloads

We typically recommend a Telstra data-only SIM due to their coverage, however most tablet/data SIM plans will work perfectly.

Will Starlink affect wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?

Potentially, yes.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require a WiFi connection between your phone and the interface system. If your phone is already connected to Starlink WiFi, it may not be able to connect wirelessly to the system simultaneously.

In this situation, we recommend connecting your phone via USB cable, which still allows you to use Starlink internet while maintaining full phone integration functionality.

General Details

* FULLY plug and play installation, no modification to your cars wiring and completely reversible / removable back to factory if required. We will supply full installation instructions (including photos) via email. This makes the installation very straightforward!

* NO loss of factory functions - climate control and camera systems retained. To switch between the factory Toyota system and the interface, its just a simple 2 second press of the "HOME" button. You are free to changes modes at any time.

* Steering wheel controls function perfectly, this includes volume, track change and the voice button works to activate Siri (CarPlay) or Google assistant (Android Auto).

* GPS navigation address / phone calls / movies can be accessed while the vehicle is in motion, but as watching a video while you are driving is illegal we do not recommend it.

Installation

Most of our products come in "kit" format with everything required to install into your vehicle, this includes "plug and play" harnesses which are designed to make the installation as easy as possible. We also provide full installation instructions (including photos) from installations we have done. We also provide a comprehensive user guide and have many videos on YouTube showing various functions of our products.

Our kits are designed for DIY installation, the hardest part of the installation is normally removing the dash panels and factory unit.

We pride ourselves on after sales service and are generally very responsive to tech support emails.

However, if you are not confident in completing the installation yourself, we do recommend utilising a local professional to install it for you. Normally, auto electricians or Autobarn stores that are local to you will be able to install your kit without issue. We can even supply you with the contact details of a professional in your area if required!

If you have organised a local professional, we recommend passing on the installation / user guide (that you'll receive after placing an order) to them on the day of the installation.
